Life coaches also have specialties just like other professions. Many life coaches make use different methods of coaching. It is what makes them unique and valuable in their profession. The full amount specialties are wide open so for purposes of this article I will focus on a few categories. People are complex so of course there is some overlap between categories. A person may also start with one idea in mind for coaching and find that whole new areas of coaching become of interest.
There are many different types of life coaches. In this article, we will cover the following areas: Transformative Coaching, Recovery Coaching, Creativity Coaching, Spirituality Coaching, Business Coaching.

Among the different types of Life Coaches is Creativity Coaching. While there are some general definitions of what a Creativity Coach is, this article is my interpretation of creativity coaching. I see creativity coaching as involving two main groups with one main function (one can belong to both groups):
Those in the arts or involved in artistic expression looking to increase their creativity. This can include but is not limited to Creativity Coaches artists, writers, inventors, entrepreneurs’ photographers, world travelers and other creative souls to accomplish their dreams.
Those looking to transform their lives by adding more of the creative and imaginative as part of the process. These people are usual interested in mind expansion, worldly achievement, consciousness exploration and spirituality.
Unlike other types of life coaches, creativity life coach let you think outside the box and aid you in getting your creative juices flowing. They not only make you “think” but are with you every step of the way guiding you on how to get that idea to the incubation stage.
You can think of a creative coach as your personal motivator, urging you forward to build on your dreams; they listen, and provide useful feedback to help you get where you want to be.
What is a Recovery Life Coach?
Recovery Coaching is a good fit for individuals in recovery from substance abuse, depression (Mental Health Recovery) or other dramatic life event that has given the person the experience of walking through the bowels of life. Recovery coaching is not a replacement for traditional therapy but rather additional to it and for those who have reached stability with traditional methods. It is for someone who is looking not just to survive but to strive and succeed on their own terms.
Recovery certainly doesn’t happen just within therapy so the person grabs onto other methods to increase their quality of life. Recovery coaching is one such method improving one’s experience of related to themselves, others and life in general.
Types of coaching styles that are employed in recovery coaching include but are not limited to exploring your spirituality, creativity, social and individual psychology. These different coaching methods are important in understanding and suggesting coping mechanisms to the many mental health issues that people nowadays face

Similar to life and business coaching, Recovery Coaching (also known as peer mentoring) is a type of partnership where the person in or seeking recovery self directs his/her recovery while the coach provides expertise in supporting successful change. Recovery Coaching focuses on achieving any goals important to the individual. The coach asks questions and offers suggestions to help the person in recovery begin to take the lead in addressing his/her recovery needs.
Recovery Coaching focuses on honoring values and making principle-based decisions, creating a clear plan of action, and using current strengths to reach future goals. The coach serves as an accountability partner to help the person sustain his/her recovery. The Recovery Coach helps the person access recovery, as well as access systems needed to support recovery such as benefits, health care, etc.
This is a supportive, caring, understanding vehicle to assist in positive change and growth.
What is Business Life Coaching?
A business coach often helps entrepreneurs or budding entrepreneurs establish the mindset necessary to be a successful entrepreneur. Some also specialize in particular businesses and go into the nuts and bolts of home to make one’s business dreams a reality. For example, in addition to mindset some coaches will focus on business aspects such as copywriting, marketing, advertising, client conversion, website development and the like. This particular area is a very hot area at the time of this writing. This is due in part to the large amount of people looking to create successful online business.
A business life coach is a niche life coach focusing on the needs of a business leader; whether you are an entrepreneur or running others business, a business coach is the perfect fit for your managerial and organizational needs. Business life coaches are lauded for their ability to help people not only run their business smoothly but create an efficient work-life balance.

Spirituality can mean a lot of different things depending upon who you ask. At the core though it about transcending perceived limits. Each of the different types of life coaches that we have spoken about serves a special purpose. A spiritual coach, unlike a transformational life coach, helps you grow spiritually. Where a transformational coach works on your habits and behavior, a spiritual coach taps into your deeper beliefs and your connection to your spirit. Spiritual coaches have been rightly hailed as those who change your outlook towards life.
There is common misconception regarding the type of coaching methods used by a spiritual life coach. It is wrongly believed that they are a substitute for religious moderators. However, you don’t have to be religious to seek coaching from a spiritual life coach. An area of life coaching that a spiritual coach deals with is healing and finding inner peace. Even those who do not follow a strict set of religious norms and customs need to find a place within where they can heal and attain peace. This is where the expertise of a spiritual coach comes in.
